Before You Advertise Your Books
1 lesson - 30 min
Don't skip this one! Before you advertise, you need to be sure that your BOOK IS MARKETABLE.
This workshop (recorded in 2020) will take you on a deep dive of learning how to write to market.
This video is a walkthrough of how I would go about actually researching category and genre in thinking about writing and positioning to market.
This workshop will walk you through writing blurbs and ad copy for Facebook and Amazon to help you sell more books.
This video gives an overview of paid email promotions, Amazon advertising, and Facebook advertising, with general tips on how to start learning and testing the various platforms.
In this video, I'll walk you through my latest launch, which grossed $12k in 6 weeks and has kept my book in the top 500 on Amazon for months. I'm sharing the inside and out, including the fact that this is what I think is a HOT genre in an UNDERSERVED market.
One of my favorite places to START investing in your advertising is paid email promotional sites. Learn to use them well and get my curated list of favorites!
This workshop gives an overview on the Amazon Advertising platform, and was recorded in 2020.
This is a look around the dashboard to get you familiar and consider how you can best organize columns, see what you want to see, and put ads in portfolios that makes it easier to see the data.
Auto ads are great for getting started. They aren't usually my best-performing ads, but will often start spending first and can help me get a good idea of what targets might or might not work.
Category ads are relatively simple to set up. Once you've got an auto ad, try a category ad as your next step with this tutorial.
This video walks you through creating an ad targeting specific, individual products on Amazon.
This video walks you through setting up a simple keyword ad. There are three main kinds of keyword ads you might create for each book. We'll quickly cover them all.
Right now, I'm running ads at a loss on a book. WHYYYYYY??? While this might seem really stupid at first, it might not be. This video will talk you through why I'm doing what LOOKS like a loss on the dashboard and why it MIGHT just make sense, especially for a book launch or first book in series.
This video walks you through a keyword ad and how to work on making a keyword ad work even better.
This video walks you through measuring a category ad for effectiveness and how you can work on cutting the cost if it's not working well for you.
This video walks through tweaking and measuring the effectiveness of an ad targeting individual products by ASIN.
Here's reality. Amazon ads are hard to scale. I'm going to talk about two ways to scale them.
Are you having trouble getting your Amazon Ads to work? This lesson deals with the four main issues people have.
This live workshop will give you an overview about Facebook advertising and how it works as a platform. Other videos will break down the platform with tutorials and walkthroughs.
Let's do a deep-dive into Facebook audiences. This is a massive part of finding success, and you might be surprised what works for you! It also includes a spreadsheet with over 200 potential audiences broken down by category.
Facebook changed their look after I'd created a number of videos. They're still helpful and MOST of the things didn't move around too much in the ads manager.
This video walks you through setting up your first ad. I'm going to recommend here that your very first ad is a dynamic creative, or DC. (You'll see what that means as you go through it!) That allows you to set up ONE ad simply, but still test images and copy.
In the first part of this lesson, we set up a single dynamic creative ad. Now, we're going to set up multiple ads and ad sets to test things. It's not HARDER, but has more steps, is a bit more annoying, and also kind of makes you work backwards.
Despite saying at the beginning of the video that I was just going to look at a campaign with a lot of different ads inside it, I looked at some dynamic creative as well. This is a good dive into me checking what is or isn't working and adjusting ads accordingly.
I wanted to test some new audiences, so I set up three separate campaigns, each with the same dynamic creative ad, going to smaller (under 500,000 person) audiences to test.
Want to go deep with something easy to do but also pretty nifty? Let's get into custom and lookalike audiences.
Watch an ad from setup to a full week, adjusting ad copy, blurb, and audience as needed.
A great question I got was: how do you manage all this every day?
Let's start with this caveat-- I believe that there are a lot of pricing options that can be successful for you. I've watched authors make money with varying price points. Which price point is right for YOU? This video will walk you through how to make that call.
