“Enter Sandman” was released on July 29, 1991, by Metallica. It is the intro to their self-titled fifth album, also called “The Black Album”.
The lyrics were written by vocalist and rhythm guitarist James Hetfield. The song was composed by Kirk Hammett, Lars Ulrich, and Mr. Hetfield himself.
The song perked up at 16 in the US Hot 100 and nabbed platinum certification for more than 1,000,000 copies shipped in the States. It also helped Metallica sell over 30 million copies and make its name globally synonymous with rock music.
Highly praised by critics, this song has been featured on all of Metallica’s live albums since 1991 and onstage at many of their award ceremonies & benefit concerts.
