If you’re writing your novel with a longterm aim of getting it picked up to be made into a TV movie by one of the streaming services, you’re better off pitching it to them with a publishing deal in hand (rather than self-published). A publishing deal gives you the “seal of approval” that other experts think the story is worth investing in. And there are small publishers that are willing to acquire novels for a minimal-or-no advance (without the author already having a follower base of 25K people).
