Ironic that you guys are demanding reviews when the people who already have reviews have less need for your services as against those who have none. smh.

As a member of his Digital Freedom Academy I absolutely lap up all the resources he constantly makes available and just downloaded off Amazon 3 more of his books. Thank you for this truly insightful post, Matt and Dave. I have never submitted a book on Buck Books but will try my luck at first opportunity. And you’re so right about humor and people being people, Matt. An author friend once got a Bookbub deal after putting in her submission the comment that she’s named her goldfish ‘Bookbub’! 🙂

I’ve been thru dozens of BookBub promos over the years, my first one was actually a surprise: BB was so young they promoted one of my books for free without telling me, leaving me to be shocked at the sudden sales spike. Back in those days, I got accepted every month like clockwork for a year – then the secret got out and I maybe scored 3-4x a year, at best. Just the past several months have actually seemed to get a little easier, but the ROI is nowhere near where it used to be in my experience. From roughly $3000 in profit to less than half that, which is still nothing to sneeze at. Just my $0.02.

Thanks! So then, if you wanted to price it at $0 for a promotion, would you do it via Draft 2 at all the vendors, or just at one in particular?

I put mine through Draft 2 Digital, who then submits the books to all of the other pertinent vendors.

Question about “Sell on lots of vendors, not just Amazon” – which of those other vendors is good for temporarily pricing the book at $0?

I appreciate your content in this well-written article, as I have been looking for other places to showcase my latest book publications. However, after reviewing the requirements for Buck Book’s Promotion submission, I’m saddened to realize that my book will not qualify; any suggestions would be appreciated.

To better understand my unique problem, some background information is needed. I am writing a series of travel photography eBooks, each title chronicles my adventures over 3-6 days in a particular location, and contains 50 images over 50 pages with limited text boxes to provide a narrative to the adventure. I have recently done a 5-day free released on Amazon for the eBook, Vietnam Backpacker Photo Journey #4: Caving Phong Na, and got 163 downloads and 19 reviews (plus one in Japanese) with 3.8 rating.

In reviewing the requirements for Buck Book’s promotion submissions, I have two problems. The first is that my book is only 50 pages in length; I purposely set this limit to keep the file size down. Buck Books requires that the books to be submitted are at least 60-pages. The second problem is due to the large amount of images, the file size is 5.52MB, and even at the 35% scheduling the cheapest that Amazon would allow me to sell the book is $1.99. Because of the file size, I cannot lower the price to $0.99 that they Buck Book’s require.

So in a nutshell, I have a unique product outside of the normal publishing situation, and would like your advice on work around for these problems, or suggestions for other book promotion sites that would be a better fit for my photo journal travel books. Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I love the Kindlepreneur site and have gained so much valuable information here – thanks for helping to inspire me.

Forever your fan, Scott David Plumlee

But came away feeling very elitist like the old days of publishing before self publishing on Kindle. Most average self publishers are not going to meet these standards but for top end its perfect.
