Honestly, I’m not sure. FB changes so often, so I can’t say. But in the past, the answer has been no.

I now want to open a FB ‘author’s page.’ Can I transfer the contents of my ‘page’ to my new ‘author’s page’? Thank you in advance.

I want my “Author” page (I created from my personal) to have my “Username” as my name: DaveBartell, not DaveBartellAuthor or similar. FB says I an have the same user name for both my personal page and “Page”

I do not use my personal page. How do I shift the Username? (Does all this even make sense?) Thanks!

You should be able to, yes. As for suggestions, there are FB ads, commenting on other related groups and pages, emailing your followers, commenting in Forums, etc. Just make sure that your discussing of your FB page isn’t done in a spammy way, but in a beneficial way.

We have a book coming out in about a month.
We do not have a FB presence yet.
I have written several books but my co-author has not.
Can we set up separate author profiles via “personal” facebook pages but have a mutual page to promote the book?
Do you have suggestions on how we can promote the book together and I can still promote my other books?

That would be the most effective way to ensure your pen name ins’t linked back to you.

Hi Dave,

I have a pen name, so is it better for me to set up a personal profile with this pen name, and then create a author page with that pen name–and not use my personal profile for anything?

Thank you,

I think so, but FB changes a lot over time. It would be something that you’d need to look up on their resource page or try to contact them. Sorry, I don’t have a specific answer to that.

I Brenda have had a personal FB page for many years. Named Brenda Ivan Rudolph but hubby doesn’t use it.
When he set up his author page years ago he needed it attached to a personal page – seemed easiest to link it to mine. He is Ivan Rudolph Author.
Now I think it time he had his own personal page tho it’d be a technicality only as he would continue to post on his author page. I get all his stats and notifications etc etc !!!!
Is such a separation possible?
PS Married 52 years, happy to be attached in real life!!!!

First, people like following people more than a business…and I would think it is even more so when what they think they are following is an author. I would be a bit less inclined to follow and like someone’s writing, when I go to their Facebook page, and see they are an organization rather than the author I thought they were.

Why do you think authors should be a public figure vs a business or brand? Aren’t we all building our own book brands?
