For this, if you do a pre-order, you can get it preemptively.

Am I missing a step or is adding the review link to your e-book something you can only do after book release? In order to use the link you need an ASIN. My plan was to hit publish for my paperback and hope after doing so I would see the ASIN to add the completed book review link – so that I could then hit the publish button on my e-book. Is this even possible or should I be patient and add the link at a later date?
Thanks in advance!

The letter of the law is that you can’t give a review if incentivized. Technically, if you’re doing a ‘favor’ for someone in return for a favor, then this is against what Amazon wants. But this really comes down to intentions.

Hi Dave,

I’m in a writing group and have been told we can’t review each other’s books. Is this true?

Thanks,
Nancy

Well, that’s one reason why making a ebook version can be helpful for those books (if you get the formatting down). If not though, then I guess that is a bit of a game changer on what one can do. Limitations being physical books and all.

I was wondering if you have any suggestions for getting reviews on low or no content books as they are not generally available on Kindle.

Thank you!

I’ve seen some come in where it looked as though they hadn’t read it. So it definitely happens.

Thanks so much for all of these tips. Some excellent ideas!

Per the giveaway, do you find that people leave reviews if they haven’t yet read the book? And if they decide to do a quick star rating rather than a written review, does that still carry any weight with potential readers?

Thanks for your response.

Using a program like the one discussed in the article, it will handle selecting the winner. Then contact them, get their mailing address and send them the prize.

In the way the person has to write a review for entering in contest giveaway, how’s can be the next step to send to the winner his copy paperback as promise ?

Actually for most authors, I think MailerLite is the best option (cheaper, and their free version is legit). I did a full comparison of all of them and you can see my break down here: https://kindlepreneur.com/best-email-services-for-authors/ . As for collecting email subscribers, offering a optin gift inside your book is the best way to turn a reader into a subscriber.

I have a couple of questions though.

In the section on “Building a Giveaway” you recommend that you use an email system like ConvertKit to send out an email blast out to your readers. If you are a new author like myself, my email list is fairly small at this point. How does one go about building the email list of readers?

And is ConvertKit the email system that you recommend using? Is the email system you refer to the same as the Auto Responder system you mention later in your article.

Please advise.
